North America’s 50 Best Bars was inaugurated in 2022 in New York City to recognize the best of bars and bartenders within this continent. For 2023, this brand will mark its second year in a new destination — San Miguel de Allende.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this city within Mexico’s Central Highlands region will serve as the host location for this three-day event in early May.

On Thursday, May 4, North America’s 50 Best Bars will culminate with an awards ceremony honoring bartenders and bar owners in North America and based upon voting by the brand’s academy members. It will involve a countdown of winners, starting from 50 and climbing up to number one.

The evening’s presenter will be Franky Marshall, an NYC bartender and spirits educator whose hospitality industry resume includes Dead Rabbit, Clover Club, Monkey Bar and Le Boudoir Brooklyn.

“After last year’s star-studded launch in New York City, we are taking North America’s 50 Best Bars south of the border to celebrate Mexico’s world-leading bar scene,” explained Mark Sansom, content director for North America’s 50 Best Bars. “San Miguel de Allende has a long history as being a bastion of fine eating, drinking and celebrating and we can’t wait to bring the entire North American bar community to the UNESCO World Heritage City.”
