Tree falls in a resort in Guanajuato; there are 14 injured and one dead child

The witnesses experienced a terrifying scene at the Comanjilla spa when they saw the tree fall on top of them.

In Guanajuato, the death of an 11-month-old baby was reported. The child died while he was being treated at a hospital after a tree collapsed inside the Comanjilla aquatic center, in the municipality of Silao. The incident left at least 14 injured, including two minors.

The bathers experienced minutes of terror on Good Friday when they saw the huge eucalyptus tree that had a height of about 25 meters fall on top of them.

The branches of the tree fell into one of the pools that was crowded at the moment. The events occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7th, inside the water park that is located in the Baños de Agua Caliente community, on the border of the municipalities of Silao and León.

At that time, this recreational center was full of visitors as it happens every Easter period.

Agents of Civil Protection, Firefighters and State Public Security Forces arrived at the scene to give attention to those affected. The count was 3 people with serious injuries, and 11 more with minor injuries.

Juan Ricardo, 13 years old, and his 11-month-old brother were transferred in code yellow to hospitals in the city of León. José de Jesús, 51 years old, is reported to be in serious health.

The 11-month-old baby died when he was receiving medical attention at a hospital in the city of León, according to the authorities’ report.
