According to El Universal, the governor-elect Libia Dennise, on Thursday, June 6, Mauricio Trejo, declared that the now-re-elected mayor of San Miguel for another term, publicly assaulted and insulted a journalist.

The governor-elect of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, condemned the violence that the re-elected PRI mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo Pureco, exercised against the journalist Ana Luz Solís, of the digital newspaper News San Miguel, because her publications make him uncomfortable.

“In no way do I tolerate, nor of course endorse any comment that has to do with minimizing, much less a woman in her journalistic work,” Libia Dennise said on Sunday, June 9th, in her first interview as governor-elect.

On Thursday, June 6th, Mauricio Trejo, the mayor on leave, and re-elected for another term, publicly assaulted and insulted the journalist; He made fun of her appearance, referred to her as “Tronchatoro,” disqualified the media outlet she works for, and incited his followers against the journalist, who responded with insults and boos.

After this event, which a journalist member of the State Council for the Protection of Journalists made known to her, the first female governor of Guanajuato guaranteed her unrestricted respect for the work of journalists and human rights defenders.

Upon learning the details of how the elected municipal president assaulted the journalist, García Muñoz Ledo said that they must carry out the processes so that Trejo Pureco apologizes to the journalist.

“It is condemnable, I think, and the process will surely have to be carried out so that the municipal president apologizes,” said the elected governor.

On June 6, after learning of his official victory in the June 2 elections, in a public speech, Maurucio Trejo literally said that the News San Miguel media outlet is “garbage,” and began to denigrate the journalist. The event was captured by reporters who shared it on their corresponding websites and social netowrks.

In the video, Trejo Pureco can be seen surrounded by supporters, while he aggressively told the journalist, “So, I already have more trucks than those registered? According to your News’ garbage? Congratulations News garbage and Tronchatoro.”

Now, what I’m doing is giving you news so that at least the news is real tomorrow. And the news is: ‘Trejo is very rude. Trejo has a bunch of delivery trucks. Trejo was wearing a five million peso watch!‘” the mayor-elect said, mockingly in a funny voice.

“Cheers to News!” he joked, to which his followers responded with jeers of motherfucking insults.
