The show “Lorca is poetry, it is flamenco” combines theater, music and dance in a tour of the most important works of classic Spanish playwright Federico García Lorca.

On September 6 and 7, at the Teatro Santa Ana in San Miguel de Allende, the interdisciplinary show “Lorca is poetry, it is flamenco” will have feature presentations. This unique show combines theater, music and dance in a tour through the most important works of Federico García Lorca.

The staging will bring together five artists of three different nationalities, who will pay tribute to Garcia Lorca to the rhythm of flamenco in a project that has been in the works for almost a year and is inspired by Sally Avigdor’s novel “The Black Flame”, and Berenice González’s thesis.

The show, which lasts an hour and a half, has been in the making virtually by the five participants. While Berenice González and Franco Méndez live in Guadalajara, Sally Avigdor, Alberto Solís and Josué Tacoronte reside in San Miguel de Allende.

“We don’t know each other in person; Josué is Cuban and I am Spanish, but we all have a very Mexican heart, and on this occasion Mexico, Spain and Cuba will merge to create a synergy and a multidisciplinary show,” said Franco Méndez.

Next week the artists will meet for the first time in person, after months online rehearsals. They hope that this artistic connection will be reflected in the presentation and will be enjoyed by the attendees.

The proposal arose as a long-distance coincidence and will be presented on September 6 and 7 at the Santa Ana Theater in San Miguel de Allende at 6 p.m. Tickets can now be purchased at the theater’s box office and through the venue’s official website.

The ticket cost is 440 pesos.
