“We will continue to support the southeast, President Lopez Obrador decided that in these six years, the southeast would be the recipient of the largest investment, because historically it had been the most abandoned region of our country and we will continue to support the southeast,” said Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, virtual President-elect of Mexico, after defining with the governors – current, as well as those elected – of Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Veracruz, and Yucatan, the priority projects that will be implemented in the next government.
“Not because we are going to develop the trains to the center-north, but because we are going to leave the southeast abandoned. Investment in the southeast and the development of all the Wellbeing Poles will continue,” she pointed out.
For the above, Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated that among the most important strategic projects for the southeast of the country is the consolidation of the Mayan Train as a freight train, as well as its extension to Progreso, Yucatan; the completion of the K and FA lines of the Interoceanic Train.
’’In the southeast part of the country, the projects that we have proposed as priorities are the completion of the Mayan Train as a freight train; which also means an extension to Puerto Progreso, in the case of Yucatan, and the completion of the Interoceanic Train, which has to do with a line that goes to Guatemala and the other that goes through Tabasco to Dos Bocas, which are also about to be completed’’, she reported.
Likewise, she highlighted that works on mobility issues, the construction and consolidation of the Wellbeing Poles, and promoting agricultural development, are part of the projects that will be added to the federal government’s Work Plan for the southeast of the country.
‘’At the same time, there are a series of important mobility projects for each of the states of the Republic in the south-southeast region, these were proposed to define what the priorities are, and at the same time, keep developing the project with the 12 wellbeing poles in mind.’’
’”One of them is in Yucatan, but there is also a lot of interest in Quintana Roo, in Oaxaca; Veracruz, and Chiapas”.
“In the specific case of Chiapas, one of these poles will be located in Tapachula, while another will be built in Puerto Chiapas, a very important and strategic port. On the other hand, we will prioritize the agricultural development of this area, which is also fundamental,’’ Claudia Shenbaum concluded.
