The sixth edition of “VINUM Guanajuato” successfully provided innovative and profitable ideas for the wine tourism business to one hundred participants from Guanajuato, Querétaro, Mexico City, and Baja California.

The Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato works hand in hand with Ana María Arias Aguirre, General Director of Vinotelia and organizer of VINUM, the only international Wine Tourism Conversation in Mexico that this year provoked extraordinary actions in the wine industry and the tourism value chain around “Wine Tourism & Meetings”.

In this event, inaugurated by Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, SECTUR promotes the quality of the product of the wine industry of the entity, which has a brilliant potential for wine tourism and wineries that deserve to be visited by the public from all over the world.

In this edition, attendees received training, shared knowledge, and created important alliances at the Toyán winery, the venue for the event located in San Miguel de Allende.

The industry learned from international experts who developed a program with the following topics: “Trends and Challenges in MICE Tourism: Focus on the Corporate Traveler Experience”, by Michel Wohlmuth, from Mexico; “SERNATUR: MICE Tourism and Wine Tourism – Perfect Pairing”, by Claudio Sánchez, from Chile.

“Innovation in MICE Wine Tourism: Creating memorable, profitable and sustainable experiences”, by Alicia Estrada, from Spain; “Developing the company for MICE wine tourism”, by Omar Huitron, from Mexico; “Attention to premium tourists in the MICE sector and wine tourism”, by María Consuelo Escabias García, from Spain”; and “Conclusions and future parameters on MICE wine tourism”, by Javier Gámez, from Mexico.

The program was enriched with three “Team Building” experiences, as well as a business meditation for leaders of the sector linked to wine tourism.

During this two-day training, those present also tasted nine wines – with Grand Gold, Gold, and Silver medals, awarded at the “Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, a prestigious international wine competition – produced in the wineries, vineyards and cellars of Dos Búhos, San José Lavista, Guanamé, Cuna de Tierra, Santísima Trinidad, Cavas Manchón, Tres Raíces, Los Remedios and Toyán, to get to know the particularities of each one of them.

These winning products, of a very high qualitative level, give aromatic expression and a perfect balance in the senses, stand up to any label from any region of the world, and show the most positive side, being well executed at the oenological level of Mexico, the highlands and Guanajuato.

VINUM, in its past editions, has taken over magnificent venues of the entity, creating a pleasant and calm environment for attendees. The sites where the events have been held are Hotel la Casona, Viñedo San Miguel, San José Lavista, and Vinícola Tres Raíces; and creating experiences for attendees, through tours and events, at Viñedo San Lucas, Dos Búhos, Viñedos Santísima Trinidad, Cuna de Tierra, Tres Raíces, and the Guanajuato Wine Museum. This event has also been held virtually.

With this event, SECTUR Guanajuato reinforces its commitment to producers who make quality wine and encourages travelers to experience great stories in this great destination which is the “Land of Wines.”
