On Thursday, September 12th, President Lopez Obrador announced that his administration will publish the reform to the Judicial Branch in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF) on Sunday, September 15.

“Let it be published on September 15, because it is a very important way, that is to reaffirm that in Mexico there is an authentic democracy, the people elect their representatives, the people elect the public servants of the three powers that are democracy, not the elites, not the so-called political class, not the oligarchy,” he said.

This was said after the president announced that 18 state Congresses had approved the reform to the Judicial Branch.

Millions of Mexicans do not agree with this reform but even though there were marches and protests against it, it could not be stopped and it is now a reality.

International media specialized in finance such as the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times have published various editorials declaring that this reform brings great uncertainty to the markets and that it will scare away Foreign Direct Investment in Mexico.
