Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez and his father are expelled from the PAN after voting in favor of AMLO’s judicial reform
Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez and his father, Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, were expelled from the National Action Party (PAN) after they voted in favor of the reform to the Judicial Branch promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
The expulsion of both was confirmed by the National Permanent Commission, which also reported that Natividad Díaz, a local deputy from Oaxaca, was expelled.
In the session, the national president of the PAN, Marko Cortés, took the opportunity to urge the Parliamentary Groups in the local congresses not to give in to pressure, nor to allow themselves to be co-opted or cornered. Instead, he asked them to vote against the reform of the Judicial Branch.
After the session, the PAN leader reaffirmed via social media that the commission approved “that the process of expulsion of those who betrayed the country with their vote be initiated.”
In the same meeting in which the Yunes were expelled, the PAN agreed to challenge the reform before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN).
