The student of the Faculty of Mathematics of the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY), Daniel Herrera Muñoz, obtained the bronze medal in the International Olympiad of Artificial Intelligence held in Saudi Arabia, where he went as part of the delegation that represented Mexico.
(UADY.MX).- The student of the Bachelor of Computing affirmed that this is the result of all his efforts made since he studied at the Second Preparatory School, as well as the support of his teachers and parents to be able to achieve each objective.
“Since high school, when I found out about the Olympiad of Informatics I was interested in participating and I began my training, although at the beginning I did not know what awaited me I did not stop. In addition, computing has always interested me, so I never gave up and I looked for a way to accommodate my schedules and be able to do my tasks and continue with my training,” he explained.
The young man said that he had to go through a long road to be able to attend this international competition, first in the Informatics Olympiad where the first qualifiers to compete for Mexican representation were also obtained.
Later, he said, around 40 preselected participants came out of that tournament, and then two more exams were taken to continue advancing until obtaining the four representatives of the country who on this occasion were young people from Mexico City, Guanajuato, and of course, Yucatan.
“Everything has been a challenge because, as I already explained, you have to balance tasks, exams, and training, but if you look for how to organize yourself and dedicate time to each thing and as you get a taste for it, it is not a job, you entertain yourself,” he said.
Daniel said that today he feels very proud of everything he has achieved because it never crossed his mind that he would come to represent Mexico and Yucatan in an international competition.
In this sense, he invited young people who like these disciplines, first, to inform themselves because there are many competitions in which they can participate and, second, not to give up because, although it may generate extra work, the results are worth it.
