President Claudia Sheinbaum said she will contact Donald Trump’s transition team to discuss the issue of the border between Mexico and the US.
“We will always defend the Mexicans who are on the other side of the border,” was Claudia Sheinbaum’s response to the appointment of Tom Homan as the new ‘border czar’ between Mexico and the US.
Donald Trump, president-elect of the United States, revealed the appointment on his Truth Social network.
“I am pleased to announce that former ICE director, and a staunch supporter of border control, Tom Homan, will join the Trump administration; in charge of our nation’s borders,” Trump wrote on the night of Sunday, November 10.
Regarding the appointment, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that her administration will contact Donald Trump’s team before he takes office
Faced with the threat of a mass deportation of migrants, which was one of Trump’s campaign promises, Sheinbaum stressed that migrants are essential to the US economy.
“It is important to get in touch, to know what they are thinking and, to the extent possible, to move forward in coordination,” she added.
Who is Tom Homan, the new border czar?
