Canelo Alvarez visits the National Palace and gives Claudia Sheinbaum the ‘gloves of peace’
The Mexican champion backed the world’s largest boxing class at the ‘Mañanera’ and spoke about returning to fight in his country.
To the surprise of locals and strangers alike, on Friday morning a couple of characters showed up at the ‘Mañanera’ conference of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to give her recognition beyond political issues and closer to boxing.
Canelo Alvarez and Mauricio Sulaiman arrived at the National Palace to recognize the work of the president in promoting sports and in particular boxing, in addition to giving her a symbolic recognition, the ‘white gloves of peace’, which Sheinbaum Pardo received honored, as well as the appointment of ‘champion of women, champion of peace’ from the president of the World Boxing Council.

The world champion also took the opportunity to support an event that will break all paradigms. The president of Mexico and ‘Canelo’ announced the largest boxing class in the world, which will take place throughout the geography of the Mexican Republic, in public squares on April 6. Sheinbaum personally asked Canelo to support the initiative of the national class, promoting it as his busy schedule allows, in addition to dedicating flattering words to him and his career.
In addition, the boxer from Jalisco endorsed the sports project of this administration and highlighted boxing as an ideal discipline to combat addictions and activate Mexico: “Sport is very important to be able to get out of that. I personally saw many young people who were on drugs, who were lost, who got into boxing, and who have a very different life.”
