Mauricio Trejo Pureco, mayor of San Miguel de Allende, proposes the creation of an institute to support male victims of crime and violence.

Mauricio Trejo Pureco, mayor of San Miguel de Allende, believes that men are being left aside when it comes to gender rights.

San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.- Although he welcomes the importance that has been given to women and gender diversity, Mauricio Trejo Pureco, mayor of San Miguel de Allende, believes that men are being left aside. For this reason, he plans to create a support institute for them.

“It is a defense that I bring for the next three years… So far in 2024, more than 2,000 people from Guanajuato have been murdered, of which 1,800 are men; the searchers have been attended to, but the parents of the missing have not been attended to,” said the mayor.

Trejo Pureco questioned the lack of support for men and pointed out that this is an administrative area that needs to be trained and that it is a flag that he carries and for which he will work in this administration.

“Behind every missing person there is a father in mourning, and where is the obligatory support of the state government? Behind every extortion, there is a man, it is a man in its majority, who needs police and judicial support to deal with this issue,” he said.

The mayor reiterated that men are victims of crime and do not have the support of the authorities.

“Behind every man who has suffered a kidnapping or suffers the famous monthly fee, there is a family that is very possibly bankrupt. And where is the support for productive projects for them?” the mayor concluded.
