American Airlines flight makes emergency landing after a bird crashed against an engine.
On Friday, December 13th, American Airlines Flight 1722 had taken off from LaGuardia Airport, and was bound for Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina when it was diverted to JFK Airport just after 10 p.m. local time due to a “reported bird strike,” the airline confirmed to CBS News in a statement.
According to the report, the American Airlines plane leaving LaGuardia Airport in New York had to make an emergency landing after takeoff because a bird struck an engine.
The flight, which was headed to North Carolina, had to be diverted to JFK, where passengers were put on another flight.
The Airport Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed that the plane was out of service due to damage to the engine.
