Ambassador Ken Salazar acknowledged that the debate on where fentanyl is produced “does not take us where we need to go”
Ken Salazar said goodbye this Monday, January 6th, as the United States ambassador to Mexico, but not before reiterating that fentanyl is produced in our country.
There is fentanyl in Mexico and it is also produced here,” Salazar assured the media.
The diplomat acknowledged that the debate on where fentanyl is produced “does not take us where we need to go,” which is why he urged the Mexican government to maintain joint work with the United States.
I believe that what Mexico should do is take advantage of the things that they want to do in one way: migration and security. There is the fentanyl issue and there is also the arms trafficking issue, and there is also the migration issue,” he said.
When saying goodbye to his position as ambassador, Ken Salazar said he was proud to have served in Mexico.
He also took the opportunity to name Mark Johnson as head of the US Embassy in Mexico.
