The Concha Acústica of San Miguel de Allende is currently silent, abandoned, vandalized, and looted, even though the mayor, Mauricio Trejo, assured that it was reinforced and is part of the recently inaugurated Bosque Deportivo project.
More than ten years after its construction, the space, which was initially known as Foro San Miguel, no longer has electrical installations, doors, stairs, or bathroom furniture, since even some floor tiles and manhole covers have been stolen.
The spaces that once housed artists such as Lila Downs, Yuri, Molotov, and Morat in their successful presentations before more than 4 thousand San Miguel residents and tourists, look graffitied and abandoned.
The only things that remain standing are the nearly 2 thousand seats and the structure that represents a seagull in flight, although it is thought that it could be at risk of falling, which is why it was never used.
The San Miguel de Allende acoustic shell was built by the municipal administration from 2009 to 2012 to provide the municipality with a large-capacity forum in which to hold important concerts.
Today the venue is not in a condition to host any event.
Its construction cost more than 10 million pesos in 2012.
More than 6 million pesos were invested in its restoration, construction of a parking lot for general services and artists, electrical installation, basement, and dressing rooms in 2016.
