According to Expansion, the Mexican developed web application “Cornershop” already started operations in the cities of Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara, and now it’s extending its services to the city of Querétaro starting Monday May 29, as part of its nationwide expansion plan.

“We’ve chosen Querétaro, since there is already a great number of pre-registered interested users that are looking forward to start using our platform,” explained Alfredo Segura, MD of Cornershop México, in an interview with Expansión.

This opening takes place after the $ 21 million US dollars investment uprising in a Series B round last May 4.

“We are very excited because a huge multinational corporation believes in us, we are talking about one of the first investors of Facebook, when it was just a small startup,” says Segura.

Cornershop is an application dedicated to home delivery of consumer goods and other products, that holds strategic alliances with Costco, Chedraui and other 16 major supermarkets in Mexico. This app is currently competing with other similar applications such as “Mercadoni”, as well as supermarket based apps, although they claim to be the number one in this sector.

On early 2017, the group announced that they would seek to expand their coverage in more than one city per year.

Alfredo Segura declared: “To make other decisions aimed at expanding our operations, first we need to concentrate our efforts in this region”.

To place yourself above their competitors, Cornershop bets on a new method of payment, in addition to Paypal and credit or debit cards, will now accept coupons (cupones de despensa), through Up Si Vale, which will allow more users to use the application.
