GUANAJUATO, Gto.- A group of citizens of San Miguel de Allende interested in carrying out a plebiscite against the parking meters in San Miguel de Allende will have to provide the corresponding information to the Commission of Citizen Participation of the Electoral Institute of the State of Guanajuato.
The commission analyzed the request made by this citizen group, who are seeking a public consultation on the installation of parking meters in SMA.
The members of the commission chaired by Mauricio Guzmán Yáñez, agreed to ask the applicants to expand the information in this regard, as they were not clear on who must be responsible in organizing the plebiscite either the municipal government or the electoral institute.
“We are not totally clear on what is the intention of these 16 citizens, or the way in which an exercise of citizen participation must be carried out,” he said.
Guzmán Yáñez explained that the interested parties have 48 hours to send their response and if they request that the Electoral Institute, (Insitituto Electoral del Estado de Guanajuato: IEEG) organize the plebiscite, they will have to gather up with 3 thousand signatures.
He added that the IEEG has a 66 million pesos budget for the organization of the plebiscite.
