The December 2024 holiday season has been a complete success for San Miguel de Allende, consolidating its position as the “Best Tourist Destination of the Year” in Mexico and one of the main global destinations to visit. This period, extended until January 5, left an economic spillover of more than 1.5 billion pesos (1,502,714,980 pesos), a reflection of the sustained growth and tourist attraction that this colonial destination continues to reap.

Hotel occupancy reached its maximum capacity during the New Year’s Eve holiday, with 100% occupancy. In turn, the restaurant and tourist services sectors reported a notable increase in consumption, reflecting the massive influx of more than 403,956 visitors during the holiday period, between December 24, 2024, and January 5, 2025.

The Main Garden, emblematic of the city, was the scene of a memorable event where more than 18,500 people celebrated the New Year, an experience that highlights the hospitality and unique character of San Miguel de Allende.

This success is a direct result of the joint work between service providers, local associations, and the community, under the vision of the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo, who continues to promote the tourist strengthening of the municipality.

This achievement reinforces the position of San Miguel de Allende as one of the most important destinations worldwide and as a benchmark for tourism in Mexico. The economic spillover generated during the holiday season is a testament to the city’s continued growth and ability to offer unique and unforgettable experiences to visitors.

It is worth mentioning that since the beginning of the posadas, there was a festive atmosphere in the municipality and on December 24th the lullaby of the Baby Jesus was held in the main garden, attended by hundreds of people, including locals and visitors.
