On Monday December 26, dozens of vehicles could be seen lining up in different gas stations across the state of Guanajuato, as these businesses reported they did not receive fuel supply from Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
It should be noted that many people are currently traveling long distances to get gasoline in another town or city within the state.
Petróleos Mexicanos informed through a press release that the inventory is sufficient in its supply terminals, so they ask the population not to make “panic buys”, or store fuel in inappropriate containers.
Rubén Fernández, manager of a gas station in León, declared: “People should not worry that much, there is fuel, not in every gas station, but there is enough fuel for everybody.”

The public asks for precise information on this fuel shortage. Carlos Montemayor, a stranded motorist, that simply ran out of gas and had to leave his vehicle on the street said: “We don’t know if this is speculation, but the fact is that all of a sudden gasoline is scarce and nobody can’t explain this situation.”
This is the sixth day of fuel shortages in several states of Central Mexico such as Guanajuato, Michoacán, San Luis Potosí and Querétaro; consumers ask for an explanation by the local authorities, and demand this problem to be solved at once, because it is holding back and affecting the economy of the whole region.
