SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Guanajuato — San Miguel de Allende is ready to receive more than 100 thousand visitors in Easter holidays 2017. Therefore, the municipal government will close parts of the downtown area in order for all tourists to enjoy the city and give them an important place in the current transport system.
Meanwhile, in the rest of the heritage area (64 streets) some streets will be open to cars, buses and pedestrians, while other ones will be completely closed to the vehicle transit. So in the closed streets, the owners of these vehicles will have to show an identification to go across to reach their homes.
Ricardo Benavides, Secretary of Public Security, Municipal Transit and Civil Protection, said that “no municipal services or some attention to the inhabitants will be stopped for this reason”.
Besides, the public transportation services in the central downtown of the city will be restricted at 7 p.m. each day. The users will have to descend at the corner of “Avenida Guadalupe” with “Insurgentes” street, as well as in the interjection with “Calzada de la Aurora” and “Calzada de la Luz”; and those who descend in Real de Querétaro bus stop, will have to do in “Correo Street” now.
This service will continue until 9:30 p.m during the holidays.
As of today, the 64 streets of the Heritage zone will be restricted to public vehicular passage, except for those that carry their identifiers expedited by the Tourist Council along with Municipal Transit.
The streets will open at the end of the last cultural activity on Sunday April 23.
