Despite the fact that 25 year old Maria del Rosario has been missing in San Miguel de Allende for more than 17 days; a human head was found in the state’s capital on Thursday June 23, and the violence affecting Leon and other municipalities in Guanajuato’s industrial corridor, Secretary of Government Antonio Salvador Garcia Lopez declared that Guanajuato is a “peaceful state”.

But then he assured that the Public Security Forces are working on a strategy to strengthen security in the municipalities of the industrial corridor.

According to the official, the violence experienced in Leon is a “very special phenomenon” that needs to be studied to determine the cause of the situation.
Regarding the support that the State receives from the Federal Police and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) in surveillance operations in the state, Garcia Lopez said that “There is no lack of coordination, we are perfectly coordinated with federal forces, there is an effective communication and we are working together every day on security issues” Garcia Lopez concluded.
