Guanajuato tourism authorities declared: “the inaugural flight Manzanillo – Guanajuato, which started on Monday, July 18, will boost travel industry in the state”.

Fernando Olivera Rocha, Tourism Secretary of Guanajuato, said the new flight is an important event for the connectivity of the state, ensuring that Guanajuato is emerging as a receptive destination and source market.

ITINERARY

The route departs from Hermosillo, Sonora; heads to Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua; then goes to Torreon, Coahuila; continues to Bajio and finally lands in Manzanillo, Colima. This flight allows regional travelers a more efficient and timely travel.

The Secretary stated that last year one million and a half passengers moved through the Bajio International Airport, he also highlighted the importance of airport investments.

Fernando Bosque, CEO of Pacific Airport Group (Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico), said that the terminal has now two new important connections: Torreon and Manzanillo. These two destinations are operated by TAR airlines. This way, Guanajuato airport expands its connectivity, and the number of seats increases to 20,000 per year.

“Thanks to the collaboration between TAR airlines, Guanajuato Ministry of Tourism, Government of Guanajuato and the Tourism Secretary of Colima, our airport connectivity is intensely and strongly improving.” Bosque concluded.

Eduardo Castellano, commercial director of TAR, revealed that the airline seeks to transport its customers with the best cost-benefit. Looking to travel around the country without going through Mexico City, which breaks the paradigm of Mexican regional aviation, where the routes that did not touch the Mexico City airport were doomed to disappear.

In 28 months, TAR has developed a network of 34 destinations across the country, from Cancun to Tijuana. Since its first flight, the airline has transported more of 625,000 passengers, with almost 430,000 in the last 12 months.

On behalf of the airline, Castellano thanked the governments of Colima and Guanajuato.
