With a parade in honor of the actresses Dolores Heredia (Mexico) and Kaori Momoi (Japan), the 19th edition of the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), officially started on July 24 in SMA.
On July 24, the streets of San Miguel Allende filled with a colorful and magical traditional parade, with amazing calandrias, bands, stilt walkers and the typical masquerades, entertaining all visitors with gabble and Mexican folklore.
The parade ended in the main garden’s central square, where minutes later the tribute to actresses Dolores Heredia and Kaori Momoi’s began.
The opening ceremony of GIFF’s 19th edition was conducted by Francesca Guillen and Aaron Balderi. Several special guests who participate in the Festival organization were mentioned, such as Sarah Hoch, Executive Director of the International Film Festival Guanajuato.
Mexican actor Damián Alcázar presented the tribute to actress Dolores Heredia, who thanked the people of San Miguel Allende and GIFF for the granting of “the Silver Cross”, which was awarded by Sarah Hoch.
On the other hand, the Mexican director Carlos Bolado was commissioned to talk about the presence of Kaori Momoi, who is a prestigious Japanese actress. Momoi also received an award from festival’s director Sarah Hoch.
Finally, GIFF goers saw the film “Mr. Pig ” directed by Mexican cinematographer Diego Luna, who had a special feature presentation exclusively for the Guanajuato film festival before its commercial release in theaters all over Mexico.
