On Friday, July 15, during his first annual government report, Marcos Aguilar, mayor of Queretaro stated that 1,423 companies have opened this year and other 23,633 businesses installed in the state have renewed their operating licenses, which reveals the competitiveness of the capital city and shows how the muncipality of Queretaro has transformed in a pole of development and investment.
Aguilar mentioned that in the second half of this year the arrival of more international companies dedicated to the automotive sector, such as Bosch and Ultra Manufacturing is expected. He pointed out that a good number of shopping centers such as Latitud La Victoria, Paseo Queretaro, Sfera City Center have been inaugurated, and also world class accomodations such as Hotel Presidente Intercontinental.
“An economic impact of 19 billion pesos (1 billion USD) is expected for our city, between real estate, industrial, corporate and commercial investments, which represents an unprecedented amount in Queretaro’s history,” said Aguilar Vega.
Regarding human capital, more than 16,557 new jobs have been generated during the current administration, with a total of 332,321 permanent and temporary workers affiliated to the Social Security until last May.
These 16,000 jobs represent an increase of 46 percent over the number of new jobs created in the same period of the last year, this is an advance of 109 percent from the same period of 2014, he said.
