The mayor of León, Guanajuato, Hector Lopez Santillana declared that in the last week, 17 security agents, from both Police and Traffic departments, were dismissed due to what he called “lack of vocation”.
Without giving further details, the mayor stated that some of the reasons are lack of attitude and absence from work.
A total of 77 agents and officials have been fired during the first nine months of Lopez Santillana’s administration.
Regarding the citizenship’s perception on insecurity, the mayor said that the goal is to reduce the percentage of insecurity perception by 50% during his term.
As reported by the San Miguel Times four days ago, the situation in León is getting out of hand for both municipal and state governments, therefore, decisions have to be taken by the local authorites in order to regain control.
