According to news website Mexico News Daily, students of San Miguel’s Institute of Bel Canto will give a feature presentation next Wednesday August 24, 7:00pm at Ángela Peralta theater.
Rising stars in the world of opera will perform next week in San Miguel de Allende but take a handkerchief if you go, organizers warn.
Thirty-three Mexican and American singers who have been studying at the Institute of Bel Canto will demonstrate what they have learned with the Young Professionals Gala Grand Finale.
Opera-goers can expect tempestuousness, jealousy, agonizing sorrow, cosmic romance, seduction, flirtation and comedic behavior to come to life, according to the event’s promotional material.
The concert of arias and staged scenes ends a four-week, intensive course for young singers believed to have major career potential as demonstrated through skill level or professional experience. Among the participants are winners of international competitions and others who have received accolades for their performances with professional companies.
The Institute of Bel Canto offers instruction based on the premise that when a singer’s voice, body, breath, dramatic intention and musicality function together in harmony and freedom, real artistry can be achieved. Its instructors are professionals from the Metropolitan Opera and other major companies and international trainers.
Next week’s concert will take place Wednesday, August 24, 7:00pm at the Teatro Ángela Peralta.
