According to Mexico’s National Council for Science and Technology (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología) Conacyt, on Wednesday, October 5th with the presence of researchers, academics and senior students, “World Space Week” began in Queretaro, featuring activities to commemorate the date established by the United Nations (UN) to recognize the contribution of space science and technology in the development of humanity.
From 4 to 10, October, the school of Engineering of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) carried out several activities for all kinds of people, organized by the Mexican Space Agency (AEM), the Astronomical Society of Queretaro (SAQ) and the Arts and Culture Technological area of the UAQ. The coordinator of the event was said Rafael Porras Trejo.
Porras Trejo declared that during the “World Space Week”, people could enjoy space photography exhibitions courtesy of the Astronomical Society of Queretaro: SAQ.
Additionally, other interesting conferences and workshops took place during the week, such as “Mayan cosmology issues”, “what do astronauts eat in space”, and “space law”, among many others.
Finally, Director of University Cultural Television, Jose Antonio McGregor, who represented the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ), Gilberto Herrera Ruiz, said that these type of events seek to awaken a sense of wonder in the audience through the study of space.
