In the night of November 29, the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony took place in the center of Querétaro, as it happens traditionally every year on the eve of the Christmas holidays.
The governor of Querétaro, Francisco Domínguez Servién, along with the DIF’s president, Karina Castro de Domínguez attended the ceremony in the Corregidora and Zenea gardens respectively, as the city welcomes the Christmas season.
In her statement, Castro de Domínguez said: “the monumental Christmas tree and the Nativity are two important symbols that promote the connivance of Querétaro’s families in an atmosphere of reflection, joy and peace”.
In that sense, Castro de Domínguez recognized the work of the Queretaro’s Patronage of Festivals (Patronato de Festivales de Querétaro), since they help to preserve people’s traditions.
The Chritsmas Tree has been denominated as “The Friendship Tree”, and it measures 30 meters high. It commemorates friendship among the people of Queretaro for the last 36 years.
The monumental Nativity set up at the Zenea Garden is one of Queretaro’s biggest attraction for this holiday season.
