According to telecompaper.com, AT&T Mexico has announced an agreement to roll out a 4G, fibre-optic and public Wi-Fi network in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.
Under the terms of the deal with the city council of the Unesco World Heritage Site, AT&T will extend its 4G network to all of San Miguel and surrounding areas, setting up free Wi-Fi service at public squares and parks in the downtown area, in order to boost tourism and education sectors above all.
Last month AT&T Mexico announced that its 4G network had been extended to cover more than 70 million people in 144 cities across the country, up from 42 cities in April, with the company pledging to reach 100 million people by the end of 2018.
The American multinational telecommunications conglomerate is looking to create the first-ever North American mobile service area covering more than 400 million customers and businesses within Mexico and the U.S.
