The English-language Rotary Club was founded here in 2005 to improve the quality of life for our community, and 11 years and over a million US dollars of investment later, members can doff their respective sombreros in pride for their accomplishments.

Come to Rotary Tuesday, November 15, when former Rotary president Lee Carter will showcase the many humanitarian services that Rotary has undertaken to benefit the community.

The meeting will be free and in English at Hotel Mision, Salida a Queretaro1, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

“The role of the Rotary Foundation, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, has been critical to our success,” said Carter. “The Rotary Foundation began with a donation of $26.50 USD, and now is worth a billion dollars. It supports only projects that are sustainable, measurable and life changing, so we are proud to have earned the Foundation’s support on our projects to fight disease, grow local economies, support education, and provide clean water,” continued Carter.

Examples of Rotary’s impact include preventing diabetic blindness, which the Mexican secretary of health has duplicated throughout the state of Guanajuato. Rotary’s ecocina stoves have solved medical and environmental problems such as deforestation. Rotary also created the largest bilingual hospice program in Mexico. And, Rotary support helped to launch the local school for the deaf.

As impactful as each of those programs have been, providing clean water has been the most extensive Rotary success. Scores of local communities have been guided to create hundreds of rain water cisterns to provide safe water to thousands of rural citizens.

Rotary unites neighbors, community leaders and global citizens for the common good.
