There are many joys in singing: you are part of a group, you hear and participate in making it; it has been proven to be good for you! In the often-stressful time of the holidays, you can both hear wonderful singing and participate in it! The San Miguel Singers will present their annual holiday concert on Friday, December 9, at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church, Cardo 6, and all are invited to this free concert.
For the fourteenth year, the group will conclude the concert by singing Silent Night, first in the original German, then in Spanish to honor our host country, and then, with the audience, all together in whichever language you first learned the song! Along with the selection of holiday songs, there will be beautiful music by Randall Thompson, and other selections by the San Miguel Handbell Choir.
This year the concert will benefit Jovenes Adelante, which grants scholarships to local honors students who otherwise could not afford to attend university and break the cycles of historic economic disparity into which they were born. We feel that the youth of this country is its future and that we are privileged to be able to contribute. A free-will offering will be taken.
The concert will last about an hour and a half, giving you plenty of time to attend your holiday parties. Please join us. If you are inspired by our joy in singing and would like to join us, please call Director Liz Stone at 154-8239. We rehearse weekly and welcome snowbirds as well as fulltime residents.
