The National Institute for Women (Inmujeres) condemed the aggressions on senator Ana Gabriela Guevara Espinoza which took place on the México-Toluca highway.

Inmujeres issued a statement expressing solidarity and support to the investigation of this “coward attack.” The statement also pointed out that violence against women is an issue that ranges from saftey to public health, since it hinders women’s  capacities and autonomy.

“Violence against women is a permanent obstacle for democracy and development in any country,” claimed Inmujeres, to fight against it there must be complete involvement from every area of society: families, schools, media, companies, etc.
