On Monday Jan.30, the State University of Guanajuato (UG), and the Guanajuato’s Tourism Secretariat signed a collaboration agreement aimed at promoting the state nationally and internationally as a world-class tourist destination, through the “Speaker Guanajuato program”.
This agreement was signed by Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, UG’s Rector, and the State Secretary of Tourism, Fernando Olivera Rocha.
Speaker Gto allows all students to join exchange and mobility programs, in order to actively integrate them into the tourism industry activity.
The training program integrates the following 6 modules:
- Touristic routes and circuits
- Experiences
- Art, culture and education
- Regional and International gastronomy
- Travel tips
As part of the program, the students who approve this training, will visit the most important tourist attractions in the state with the purpose of becoming experts (speakers), so they can make a public presentation about those destinations in foreign Universities where they will be studying abroad, for state promotion.
At the end of their participation, they will receive a recognition from SECTUR.
“These young people will represent their country, state and city in student communities abroad, and they will help to position Guanajuato as ‘El Destino Cultural de México‘ (the Cultural Destination of Mexico) among their classmates and professors,” said Olivera Rocha.
Every year, about 110 students from the University of Guanajuato participate in the national and international exchange program and 150 students come to our state from foreign universities.
Octavio Aguilar Mata, Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion of SECTUR; Jorge Cabrejos Samamé, Director of Public Relations of SECTUR; Alejandra Bernardino Cruz, Director of Legal Affairs of SECTUR; Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Director of the Campus Guanajuato; Hector Efraín Rodríguez de la Rosa, Secretary General of the University of Guanajuato and the UG’s Director of Student Development, José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez attended the signature of the collaboration agreement.
