Jewish Community and Cultural Center will have musical Kabbalat Shabbat services called First Friday…Live March 3 and April 7 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Las Moras 47 at the corner of Cinco de Mayo in Colonia Guadiana. Services will be led by Maxine Graboyes, an experienced cantorial soloist who had a distinguished vocal career on Broadway. Joining her will be Judith Jenya, former director of a large Reform synagogue.

San Miguel Writers’ Conference and Literary Festival will have a discussion panel on Naomi Klein’s book “This Changes Everything”, February 19 at 6:30 p.m. The movie of her book will be screened February 18 at 12:30 with the filmmaker and Klein in attendance for only $10 USD. Gail Sheehy, author of the book Passages, will present on a panel about Special Challenges of Memoir Writing February 17 at 11 a.m.
Intensive workshops on Grammar for Writers, The Art of Character, Journaling as Creative Discovery, Opening to the Heart of Poem, The Nuts and Bolts of Creative Nonfiction, How to Edit What you Write, Writing the Unreliable Narrator, the Character of Crime Fiction, Screenwriting, Marketing Your Book, Travel Writing, and Finding the Power of Real Life Stories will take place February 18 from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
The annual Fiesta will be February 17 at 8 p.m. for $60 USD.

Makers: Once and For All, the largest collection of women’s stories ever collected on video, will be shown February 18 at 3 p.m. with the filmmaker in attendance for $10 USD.
