Los Cabos, Baja California Sur .- Recently, Los Cabos’ authorities met with representatives from San Miguel de Allende in order to sign an agreement to establish a sister-city relationship between these two touristic cities.
Los Cabos’ City Council authorities received Karina Márquez, San Miguel de Allende’s official, with the purpose of working together to boost commercial alliances and strengthen cultural ties between these two municipalities that are considered highly touristy.
Authorities expect to sign this important agreement on Friday March 31, 2017, in the municipality of Los Cabos.
After a tour through different attractions, Víctor Carbajal Ayala, Director of Economic Development, Tourism, Rural Development and Fisheries, and Karina Corral Raygoza, Municipal Director of Tourism, welcomed and thanked the representative from San Miguel de Allende, because this signing allows to strengthen their friendship ties.
In this sense, Carbajal Ayala recognized that the Director of Los Cabos’ Committee of Tourism and Sister Cities, Celestino Atienzo Beltrán, has worked unceasingly to encourage the relationship between these two communities.
Both public officials agreed that San Miguel de Allende is one of the most important patrimonial cultural tourism destinations in Mexico, that can exchange experiences with Los Cabos in terms of safety improvement, history, art and culture preservation, and generation of a greater tourist demand for both destinations.
Karina Márquez, Director of Marketing and Media at the San Miguel de Allende’s General Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism, said: “It is a pleasure to visit the municipality of Los Cabos, because this visit allows both destinations to share experiences and learn about the coincidences that exist between both places.
“We are in Los Cabos to discuss the details of this agreement. The mayors of both cities will sign the protocol, and different municipal and state authorities will attend the ceremony”, continued Márquez.
A large number of foreign residents (approx. 16 thousand people) currently live in San Miguel de Allende and a parallel situation exists in Los Cabos. Therefore, the responsible officials will be able to exchange their knowledge in this matter.
Karina Márquez concluded thanking “Calafia Airlines”, which provides the “Bajío to Los Cabos” flight route, which will serve as the ideal means to promote this potential market, in topics such as: real estate, gastronomy, luxury tourism, alternative and ecological travel”.
