Let’s go Guanajuato! 800 athletes to participate in Mexico’s National Olympics and Paralympics

Nuevo León, Jalisco, Quintana Roo and Mexico City will host the “2017 National Olympics and Paralympics”, where at least 800 Guanajuato athletes will seek to exalt the name of their home state, and position it among the Top Ten in this national competition.

olimpiada1-207x300The disciplines in which Guanajuato’s young athletes will participate this 2017 editon are: chess track and field, badminton, basketball, baseball, bowling, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, fencing, fronton, soccer, gymnastics, judo, tae kwon do, weightlifting, synchronized swimming, swimming, water polo, paddling, rugby, squash and tennis, among others.

On the morning of Monday April 24, Isaac Noé Piña Valdivia, General Director of the Sports Commission (Comisión del Deporte, CODE), led the flagging ceremony of the Guanajuato’s delegation that will proudly represent their state in this competition, which will take place from May 1 to June 19 this year in different Mexican cities.

In this National Olympics, more than 100 coaches and assistants will attend the competition to support the competitors.

In the National Olympiad 498 Guanajuato’s athletes will participate in a total of 34 disciplines, while in the National Youth Olympics, 182 athletes will be competing in 26 different disciplines, and for the National Paralympics, more than 31 athletes will compete in 3 disciplines: wheelchair track races, golbol and boccia basketball.
