Guanajuato, Gto – The XXVIII edition of the National Book Fair of León (FENAL) will take place from Friday April 28 to Sunday May 7, 2017. The University of Guanajuato (Universidad de Guanajuato, UG) will be actively participating along with dozens of writers and academics featuring workshops, talks and conferences.

Approximately twelve editorial presentations from the University of Guanajuato on diverse matters will be held for this occasion, ranging from the exact sciences to the social sciences.

The “Poliforum León” will be the main venue for this important book fair, where prestigious publishing houses meet every year to put their books up for sale, and to promote reading activities for all ages,  including: Lectures, interactive workshops, theater plays, dance and music sessions, among others.

Researchers at the University of Guanajuato will showcase their academic and creative production, which have allowed them to publish different books that will be shared with all readers.

Among the publications to be introduced are:

  • Democracy in Latin America, between the utopian ideal and political realities (Democracia en América Latina, entre el ideal utópico y las realidades políticas).
  • Identities and heritage. The crossroads between material and intangible things. (Identidades y patrimonio. Encrucijada entre lo material e inmaterial)
  • Local development and territorial dynamics (Desarrollo desde lo local y dinámicas territoriales).

It also worth mentioning that literary studies will be exposed during those days, such as “Mid-century generation and eroticism poetry” (Generación de medio siglo y poética de erotismo) written by Juan García Ponce; “Stories of Stregoicavar, second shortfilm horror contest from the “Aurora” horror film festival” (Historias de Stregoicavar, Segundo corto de horror del festival de horror Aurora) and “Salvador Elizondo: back and forth. Critical Studies” (Salvador Elizondo: ida y vuelta. Estudios críticos).

All Guanajuato residents will be able to visit the stand of the University of Guanajuato, where different publications by this higher education institution will be in display.

Besides, Guanajuato Fund (Fondo de Guanajuato) will allow all attendees to have access to exlusive material and diverse sources of knowledge offered by a large number of educational institutions.
