If any among us has not said or heard the equivalent of Ye Godz! Doe it have to be this bad? about both pedestrian and vehicular traffic tangles in Centro over the past few years, it could only be because we haven’t not been here.
“The last couple of years have seen an almost explosive increase in traffic in San Miguel de Allende, especially during weekends, where visitors are almost taking over our town,” said Ivar Schacke, a road and traffic engineer with about 40 years of experience from working in a European Traffic Ministry. Schacke will speak on what can be done about both pedestrian and vehicular traffic in Centro Tuesday, April 18, at 12:30 p.m. when Rotary meets at Hotel Mision, Salida a Celaya 1. The meeting will be free and in English.
“Traffic has caused serious parking problems which need to be addressed. There is a lack of sufficient parking and we have to many pedestrians for our sidewalks so we need to make walking more comfortable and safe,” continued Schacke.
Rotary is where neighbors, friends and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change. For more information, contact President Nate Fultz at [email protected] and see RotarySMAMidday.org.
