SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Gto.- “This year the figure exceeded $607,232.50 pesos, overpassing the 2016 goal for more than $100,000 pesos”, informed the Guanajuato’s Red Cross.
From March 29 to May 21, a group of 252 volunteers worked very hard to recollect funds to support the San Miguel de Allende Red Cross. On the year 2016, the funds collected reached the figure of $528,000 pesos ($28,695 USD) while this year the total went up to $607,232.50 pesos (33,000 USD).
On Sunday May 22 at 9:00 a.m. more than 100 people gathered in downtwon SMA for a donation event, and some of them exercised with Zumba trainer César Espinosa. as part of the activities, the Red Cross rescue team provided a free CPR course.
Leticia Fernández, president of the Board of Directors of the Guanajuato’s Red Cross addressed a message of gratitude and assured that San Miguel will have a “healthy” Red Cross.
At the end of the event, John and Teresa Kavanaugh made a generous one thousand dollars donation.
