Guanajuato, Mexico, May 31 (Notimex).- The state government inaugurated the fifth edition of the International Gastronomy Summit “Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe!”, with the presence of international chefs from 12 countries, such as France, Japan and Argentina.
In a statement, Governor Miguel Márquez presented the 63 Mexican chefs from 12 countries, including France, Japan, Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, Argentina, Spain, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Paraguay.
He said that there are also chefs from Aguascalientes, Querétaro, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí and Chiapas, “who will be accompanying us at the International Summit of Gastronomy Guanajuato Sí Sabe 2017”.
For 12 days, Guanajuato will become “the kitchen and the table of the world”, with the celebration of this great international event that pays homage to one of the most representative elements of culture, food, Márquez said.
Food is part of the traditions, rituals, beliefs, collective memory and daily life of a people. But food is also a personal and unique experience, being a channel of sensations that makes us “bring back emotions and experiences to memory,” he said.
Márquez explained that for the state government, “the cuisine of Guanajuato is art, tradition, history and experience, but above all, a rich cultural heritage of which we feel very proud.”
He said that in recent years “we have gone to the rescue of traditional cuisine, which in 2015 made us worth of recognition by Ibero-American Capital of Gastronomic Culture.”
“An appointment given to us by the Royal Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy. And as today we welcome renowned international chefs who come to share with us their passion and their creativity, “he said.
The authorities have also led “our traditional cooks to travel the world to share the ancestral wealth of our dishes. We Guanajuatans are very proud of our historical wealth and cultural diversity,” said the president.
At the International Gastronomy Summit in which 11 municipalities of our state are participating. San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Celaya, Irapuato, Leon, Salamanca, San Francisco del Rincon, Silao, Dolores Hidalgo, Mineral de Pozos and Salvatierra.
It welcomed the more than 80 thousand expected visitors, with the best of its gastronomy and its culture, in addition they will be realizing sustainable workshops, stated the governor.
Tourism is an activity that benefits more than 160 thousand families in the entity and this event is an opportunity to show off the traditional gastronomy and products originating in Guanajuato.
