In less than 30 hours, 21 people were executed in several incidents and attacks that took place in the state of Guanajuato: 6 of them in Leon, 5 in Salvatierra, 4 in Tarimoro, 2 in Salamanca, 2 in Irapuato, 1 in Celaya and 1 in Abasolo.
While the capital was preparing for the opening of the International Cervantino Festival, 21 people were killed between the early morning hours of Wednesday October 11 and Thursday noon, in seven different municipalities across the state, where criminal groups struggle to control theft of fuel, train robbery and drug dealing, keeping residents in constant fear.
LEON
On Wednesday night in Leon, armed men killed four young people who were standing in the street in Barrio San Miguel, a popular neighborhood in this city.
An hour and a half later, in Colonia León ll, west side of the city, a couple was attacked by a motorcyclist, while they were parked inside a pickup truck, a 29 year-old man was killed and the woman resulted injured.
Around noon, in Colonia Obrera, two gunmen descended from a car and killed a person identified as Saul, 43, whose body ended up lying on the sidewalk.
SALVATIERRA
Five of these homicides were committed in Salvatierra, where the bodies of four men were found executed with a shot to the head on a dirt road.
Hours later, at 5 AM, in the community of Cupareo in the same municipality of Salvatierra a decapitated body was found, and the head lying just a few meters away.
IRAPUATO
While in the municipality of Irapuato, two men were found dead in two separate incidents, close to two rural communities.
At 7:45 AM, municipal police notified the finding of one more executed in the community of Rosario de Covarrubias.
Two hours later, the next victim of this violent streak was located: a man killed and abandoned on the side of a state road, near the community of San Vicente de Malvas, also with a shot to the head.
TARIMORO
In the municipality of Tarimoro (near the stateline with Michoacán), the Attorney General’s Office reported that the bodies of four men were abandoned on a dirt road near the town of La Cuadrilla de Cacalote. The four of them were executed with a shot to the head.
CELAYA
Also on Wednesday October 11, around 8:10 PM, a man, apparently a prison guard at the local Cereso (Centro de Readaptación Social), was murdered inside his house in Colonia Arboledas, municipality of Celaya.
