The 45th edition of the Cervantino International Festival (Festival Internacional Cervantino) that features France as guest country, is strengthening the ties between Mexico and France in the field of humanities, art, and culture.
This year, the French delegation is presenting 300 artists featuring about 30 shows, with groups such as Ballet Marseille, Les Siécles, Les Cris de Paris, among others.

In an interview, prior to the inauguration of the House of France in Guanajuato, Anne Grillo, Ambassador of France to Mexico reaffirmed the solidarity of France with Mexico and with those affected by the earthquakes that struck Mexico City last month.

“France offered its support to Mexico in the reconstruction of cultural heritage. I talked with the Secretary of Culture, María Cristina García Cepeda, regarding the French offer,” she said.

Regarding the House of France, Anne Grillo detailed that it will have an area devoted to French innovation in engineering and tourism. “We want to promote the French regions. Being the country’s guest of honor this year has allowed us to showcase French creativity in all areas,” explained Grillo.

Jean-Paul Rebaud, Cultural Adviser of the French Embassy in Mexico, disclosed that a series of activities, exhibitions, and meetings related to tourism, gastronomy, and innovation will take place throughout the festival.

Raphael Meltz, France’s artistic programmer at the Cervantino, highlighted the presence of creators such as Wajdi Mouawad and James Thierré, the baroque ensemble Le Poème Harmonique, as well as French cultural institutions like the National Center of the Dance, among others.
