Three students from the Advanced System of Higher Education (Sistema Avanzado de Bachillerato y Educación Superior: SABES), specifically from the Cabaña del Rey campus, in the municipality of San Diego de la Unión, will travel to Shanghai, China, to represent Mexico in the WER World Robotics Tournament.
WER is acronym for World Educational Robot Contest. It was founded and organized by World Educational Robotics Society (WERS). It is an international robotics contest for teenagers from 4 to 18. Annually, more than 500,000 contestants from 30 countries participate in WER. With the expansion of influence, winners of WER world championships will bring great honors to their countries, schools as well as to themselves.
Juan Luis Saldaña López, general director of SABES, gave public recognition to the members of the team that will attend the competition to be held on 18 and 19 November in Shanghai. Saldaña also recognized the great work of other students from different SABES schools across the state, who participated in the national tournament on October 14 and 15, at Poliforum León.
Los Pólvoras, integrated by Roberto Guadalupe Hernández Álvarez, Ernesto Guadalupe Vega Álvarez, Araceli Villanueva Pérez and Professor Cesar Jaramillo Duarte, is the winning team that will travel to China, after finishing seventh in the national competition.
On the other hand, the Uzmaco team, also from SABES Cabaña del Rey and integrated by Francisco Martínez Pérez, Fátima Guadalupe Padrón Silva and Luz Elena Sánchez Álvarez, and whose professor is also Cesar Jaramillo Duarte, received a scholarship and a trip to Canada, granted by SABES and Educafin, after having achieved a very good position at national level.
In total, five teams from different SABES schools participated, who designed, constructed and operated robots that would complete tasks requested in the national competition. In fact, SABES was celebrating its 21st anniversary on October 26.
