Eighteen murdered in Guanajuato in less than 24 hours

On Tuesday January 9, María Herlinda Barrera Suárez, 37, and her daughter María, 15, were found dead inside their house in the community of Trejo, Guanajuato; after two men arrived at the site asking for María Herlinda’s husband, who was not home at that moment.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the murderers have already been identified, and law enforcement agents are looking for them.

 

In the same municipality of Silao, also on Tuesday, a man and his son were violently abducted from their home and subsequently found murdered in the  neighboring municipality of Romita.

Gonzalo Marmolejo Araujo, 51, and his son Marco Antonio Marmolejo, 28, were kidnapped, according to family members who identified them after being found dead on a road between Mezquite de Luna and Santa Anita communities, also in the municipality of Romita.

Personnel of the Agency of Criminal Investigation confirmed that both victims were picked up when they were feeding the cattle inside their own property, by three men who forced them to get into a vehicle and then took off at high speed.

Tuesday January 9.- In Celaya, another family was victim of an assault with firearm, when gunmen showed up at their residence on Calle Colina, in Colonia Los Naranjos and then shot them at point blank, killing a woman and two men, also on Tuesday night.

The woman, Sandra Leticia, who was 45 years old; along with Daniel, 22, and Roberto, 27 (last names were not provided), were all found dead by ministerial agents inside their own house. According to the forensic police report, they were killed with 38 and 223 caliber weapons.

 

Tuesday January 9.– In San José Iturbide, residents of the community of La Cinta reported that the body of a woman was found on the rural road that leads to that town. The Attorney General’s Office did not provide further information about this finding or the identity of the woman who, according to the people who made the call to 911, was shot on the face.

 

Tuesday January 9.-  León, a man was killed in Colonia Obrera, no further information has been provided by the local authorities.

 

Tuesday January 9.- Salvatierra, Guanajuato, a 29-year-old man identified as Omar Santiago Pérez, who was abducted the night before, was also found murdered by firearm near the town’s bus station.

 

Tuesday January 9.- Salamanca, the owner of a taco stand was killed as he was driving home in his vehicle after leaving his business.

 

Tuesday January 9.- San Luis de la Paz, inside an automobile depot located on the highway to Dolores Hidalgo, the bodies of two men were found around 23:00 on Tuesday January 9, according to a Municipal Public Safety report.

 

Meanwhile, in Apaseo El Alto, on Wednesday January 10, three people were involved in a car chase and then killed near a playground at Colonia Juventino Rosas.

Finally, also in Apaseo El Alto, two other subjects were intercepted while traveling in their car on the Apaseo El Alto-Querétaro road and shot dead onsite.
