PLAYAS DE ROSARITO, BC, February 1, 2018.- During a surveillance operation coordinated between the State Preventive Police of Baja California (PEP) and personnel of the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) 1,700 kilos of marijuana were confiscated, as the cargo was abandoned in the ejido Mazatlan, near Rosarito.

As police agents and soldiers were conducting a patrol operation on the street Ursulo Galván, in that area, they observed an E-350 Econoline van, apparently broken down, so they stopped to chek out the situation.

As they carried out a search, they perceived a strong smell of marijuana, and when they opened the trunk, they found 158 packages wrapped in adhesive tape which contained a total of 1.7 tons of marijuana, which is worth on the streets at least 3,400,000 USD.

The seizure was made possible thanks to the coordinated operations deployed in the framework of the “Crusade for Security: everyone’s task”
