The Guanajuato State Secretary of Health, Daniel Díaz Martínez, informed that little Abraham Gutiérrez Salazar, the 2 year-old who fell into a dry well near his home in the community known as “Buenos Aires”, in the municipality of Pénjamo, is safe and sound at home recovering from the incident.

However, he said the little boy will be under observation to rule out any subsequent negative health effect that may arise after the accident.

The boy went with his father to feed the animals when he fell into the well; relatives along with the father tried to rescue him with ropes but it was impossible, so they called 911 on Sunday around 9:30 in the morning.

The rescue operation lasted for more than 12 hours.

The accident mobilized municipal and state firefighters, police and rescue staff.
