The president of the Association of Boutique Hotels of Querétaro, Miguel Ángel González informed that a hotel occupancy of 98 to 100% is expected during this week and the next, due to the Semana Santa and Easter holidays.

During February and March, the boutique hotels in the state had an occupancy of 90%, so these months could represent a historic percentage for the sector and generate broad expectations for the rest of the year.

These conditions allow maintaining the attraction of investments, since in the next months the opening of three new boutique hotels is foreseen in Querétaro, which represent an investment of 50 million pesos (approx. 2.7 million usd) each.

In the last two years. the number of “Boutique Hotels” went from 20 to 50 in the state of Querétaro.

“Our state is attracting significant investment, and boutique hotels is a growing sector in Querétaro, there was a 13% growth last year and this year it could be higher than that, thanks to the good work done by the state government in terms of promotion,” González said.

“In boutique hotels the growth is notorious, because right now there must be 50 boutique hotels statewide and more will be opening soon. They just informed us that another boutique hotel is about to open doors in Bernal, and three more in Querétaro ,” he continued.

“There are many who use the name “boutique hotel”, but do not meet the standards, at the Association of Boutique Hotels we have standards classification regulated by the Ministry of Tourism, and all “Boutique Hotels” must meet these regulations. A boutique hotel is small, with personalized attention. The trend is that it must have less than 30 rooms, others speak of less than 20,” he explained.

Miguel Ángel González added that visitors prefer the comfort of these hotels when visiting areas such as historic centers, as opposed to convention attendees that prefer large chain corporative hotels.

The cost also represents a difference: a boutique hotel can have prices of up to 1,500 pesos per room against the 750 pesos for one night in a hotel in a large chain.

“Boutique hotels in Querétaro expect a lodging occupation of up to one hundred percent,” González concluded.
