The president of the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA), Arturo González Palomino, reported that Guanajuato is positioned so far this year in the fifth place nationwide in car sales.
This represents 4.2% of domestic sales, with 18,903 units, despite the fact that the number of commercialized vehicles is lower than in 2017.
The top five Mexican states in cars sales are:
- Mexico City, with 74,589 vehicles
- State of Mexico, with 53,000
- Jalisco, with 37,000
- Nuevo León, with 36,000
- Guanajuato, with 35,000
“Guanajuato has done well, “he explained,” but we see a market that has gone down in 2016 and in 2017 and now in 2018. Specifically, from the January-April 2017 period to the same period of 2018, there was a decrease in 9.28% in unit sales”.
“What is sold the most in Guanajuato are: Subcompacts: 6,320; Multipurpose 4,341; then come the trucks and SUVs and at the end the sport cars”, he added after pointing out that the cities where the highest sales are registered are León, Celaya, Irapuato, Guanajuato, Salamanca and Silao.
At the national level, to the month of April of this year 447,000 new vehicles were sold, representing a variation of 9.38% less than the same period last year.
