When José De Anda Pérez isn’t working on attracting people to the treasures of San Miguel de Allende through is job at The San Miguel de Allende Tourism Board, he’s busy with another treasure in our community – Rotaract. Rotaract is a service arm of the Rotary community and is made up of young leaders in the area who are dedicated to changing and improving social welfare in the community.
The Rotaract Club of San Miguel de Allende was founded in 2015 with the goal of targeting vulnerable areas of the city and looking for needed improvements. Over the past three years these young people have worked non stop on various projects to make life better in the more desperate parts of town. Some of the events Rotaract hosted were a District event that drew 130 Rotaract members. As a result of their work, last year Rotaract delivered the first Rural Library equipped with furniture, books, electrical installation, painting and floor to a rural school of SMA.
Rotaract continues to engage in several fundraising projects that are near and dear to the hearts of many San Migueleses. Sporting events, food and Mezcal tastings, and art auctions comprise just a partial list of Rotaract fundraisers. Up and coming community leaders are an important group for this organization as they look for leaders that will help with reforestation, reading, and social projects as well as fostering bonds of brotherhood with national and international clubs.
Rotaract International is celebrating a half century of service. The Rotaract Club San Miguel de Allende is now celebrating 3 years of friendship and affiliation with the Rotary Club of SMA AC and Rotary Midday Club.
Come hear more about the good things Rotaract is doing within the San Miguel Community with Jose De Anda Perez, when San Miguel de Allende’s Mid Day Rotary Club presents Rotaract Action. The presentation is Tuesday, May 15th at 12:30 PM at the Hotel Mission on Salida a Queretero. Parking is free and the hotel is easily accessible by bus.
Rotary is where neighbors, friends and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change. For more information, contact President Fred Collins at [email protected] and see RotarySMAMidday.org
