The Traditional Cuisine Encounter, which reaches its sixth edition this year as part of the Gastronimic Summit, will be held on June 2 and 3, and will gather 43 chefs, most of them Mexican, but also foreign, specifically from 8 of the 12 invited countries.
One of the juries for that meeting will be the Spanish producer of Top Chef Mexico, Eva García, who will be present at the launching ceremony on Tuesday, May 29, where she will highlight the importance of this rescue activity of ancestral cuisine.
The Minister of Tourism of the Embassy of Spain in Mexico, Isabel Alonso, stressed during the press conference, that “the cuisine of Guanajuato has helped to position the state as one of the most important international destinations” of Mexico and she recalled the weight that food has in any tourist destination.
“It is estimated that nine million of the more than 60 million visitors each year in Spain carry out a specific activity linked to gastronomy,” explained Alonso, before emphasizing that Spanish chefs have recently become the “great ambassadors” of that country.
In the press conference on Wednesday May 16th, the Undersecretary of Quality and Regulation of the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico, Salvador Sánchez, remarked that “Guanajuato is art, tradition, history and experience”, and “has a rich cultural heritage that has become a national and international reference. ”

In 2013, more than 28,000 people attended the culinary summit in Guanajuato, and in 2017 the number reached 70,000.
